It keeps us in check so we don't stray from our core mission. But it also defines our brand's consumer. And it well defines the new, emerging retail experience desired, if not required, by today's consumer. Millennials are different – today's consumer is different. Traditional home furnishings and the buying experience have changed too little to meet today's consumer's expectations. It often feels like a sea of sameness and a race to the bottom in price, quality, and style. Museum-like I hear quite often. Social media has given us the access and opportunity to hear the feedback 24/7 direct from the consumer, and at TOV we listen. What we're hearing is shopping for home furnishings should be inspirational, aspirational, fashionable, experiential, and attainable. We are sharing our discoveries with those ready to listen, and we are finding success quickly and with excitement as we convert this knowledge to Retail. With the engagement through social media, eyeballs online, bodies through retail doors, and high sales conversion, there is quite a lot to get excited about. Not so boring, right? At TOV we want the consumer to feel inspired, and often. We want her to have the stylish yet attainable, affordable options she needs to keep her home cool and trendy at all times. It's more like shopping for clothes than furniture, for today's consumer. She does not want to see the same old racks of tired brown and black shirts (or sofas!) every time she walks in the store. If the experience is lame, it's over. But if we give her engagement and she has a fabulous experience, she will keep coming back.
