TOV LIFESTYLE | 77 | The Dining Room There are three types of dining room styles in most homes; Formal, Casual and In-Kitchen. In a formal dining room, the focus is on entertaining. You may want a table that can expand depending on how many guests you have, plus a buffet for drinks and large food trays, which helps keep your table clutter-free. A hutch can be useful to keep extra dishware and glasses nearby. A casual dining room means more emphasis on comfort and functionality. Comfortable seating and easy to clean materials are recommended. If your dining area is in your kitchen, space is usually your biggest consideration. Bar stools by a counter or a table window seat are great space- saving options. The Family Room This is meant to be a warm, cozy, guest/kid/pet-friendly space (although guests, kids, and pets may not always be friendly with each other). This is the place where you want to unwind at the end of a long day. Choose durable fabrics and high-quality leather for this high-traffic zone. An L-shaped sofa creates a comfortable conversation space and is great for watching movies as a group. A sturdy coffee table makes the perfect spot for snacks or games. If you like reclining sofas and chairs, the options are virtually endless. From gliders to rockers, with cup holders, trays, and more. Many manufacturers are offering power controls to optimize your comfort and convenience (although, I'm still waiting for a model with one of those Star Trek food replicators). Another important piece of furniture for the family room is the entertainment unit. It's not just a place to keep your television and video games. You'll want it to have space for family pictures, throw blankets and games. When choosing your entertainment system, look for options that will allow you to keep everything right at hand. A wet bar or mini-fridge for easy access to drinks and snacks is a great add-on option. The Bedroom The bedroom is where everyone begins and ends their day. For this room, concentrate on the things that keep you calm and relaxed. The bed is the main focus of the room. If it's a small room, you don't want a bed that's too big for your space. For a larger room, you can add a comfy chair or small desk to give your room a homey atmosphere. Choosing the correct mattress should be your top concern. Firmness, support and comfort are the main priorities. The mattress can make or break a bed. Make sure to research your options beforehand to make the best decision. It doesn't pay to be hasty when deciding where you're going to be spending a third of your life (scary thought …). If your bedroom has a large closet, you may not need an oversized dresser or armoire. Nightstands are another high priority as they usually get a lot of use. Consider nightstands with pull-out beverage trays or built-in USB ports. Kids' Rooms Children's needs, tastes, interests and personalities are always changing, but it's best to start with simple, sturdy, classic pieces. Safety should be the most important goal. It's important to make sure the furniture in your children's rooms is durable and well made. If space is a concern, lofts or bunk beds are a great way to minimize bulk. Many also have built-in desks and bookshelves. Beds with built-in drawers and storage baskets help make your kids' rooms a fun place to keep their personal treasures. Well, that's all for now. Sorry for the lack of marshmallow men and multiple languages.
