You will need:
2 lbs of beef with bones
2 lbs of pumpkin
2-3 stalks of escallion
4 sprigs of thyme
2-3 carrots cubed
2-3 stalks of celery cut into 1 inch pieces
1 small turnip cubed
2-3 large potatoes cut up
2-3 ears of corn cut up
1 tbsp of pimento (Allspice)
Frozen vegetable soup mix
4 qts water
1 lb of lour for spinners
salt to taste
In a large pot, combine beef, pumpkin and water. Bring them to a boil and then let it simmer for about
one hour or until the pumpkin dissolves. Add the carrots, potatoes, corn and turnip to the pot. Continue
to let it all simmer for another half hour and then add the rest of the ingredients: the scallion, thyme,
pimento, celery, frozen vegetable soup mix, spinner and salt to taste. Let it all simmer for another half
hour and stir with a large spoon to make sure that nothing sticks to the bottom of the pot. You can serve
immediately or allow it to sit and then serve later.
Spinners
1 lb of lour
pinch of salt
enough water to make a stif dough
Mix all ingredients together to make a stif dough. Pinch of small pieces of the dough to knead and shape in
the palm of your hand into long fairly thin dumplings. Repeat until you have used up all the dough.
